For the 136th time, the St. Louis Cardinals will be playing baseball this spring. The 2017 campaign gets kicked off on April 2nd in a nationally televised contest against the defending champions, the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium.
The Redbirds finished 86-76 last year that was good for 2nd place in the Central Division, 17.5 games behind the Cubs. Last year was the first time the Cardinals did not make the playoffs since 2010, but the Cardinals still have Adam Wainwright, Matt Carpenter, Yadier Molina and newly signed center fielder and ex-Cub Dexter Fowler. It’s safe to assume the Cubs and Cards will be battling all year for the National League pennant.
