SHARETweet about this on TwitterGoogle+Pin on PinterestShare on Facebook

Brrr! The weather is getting chilly here at Howl at the Moon HQ. When the days make you want to stay inside wrapped in warm blankets, what’s more appropriate than a sugary, warm, alcohol-infused beverage? Nothing. Absolutely nothing makes the winter cold worth it (especially if you’re in the Midwest) than a deliciously warm cocktail! Go ahead, pin this recipe and make it any time you need a warm up or to kick start the night before going out.

Things you need:

6 cups fresh apple cider
2 tablespoons packed dark-brown sugar
2 whole nutmeg seeds
1 vanilla bean (split and scraped)
6 ounces (3/4 cup) bourbon, if desired
Whipped cream
Honeyed Walnuts

How to make it:

1. Combine apple cider, dark-brown sugar, nutmeg seeds, and vanilla bean in a medium saucepan. Gently simmer over medium-low heat for 15 minutes.

2. Remove from heat, and add bourbon.

3. Remove and discard solids.

4. Divide among 6 mugs or heatproof glasses, and top each with a dollop of whipped cream and a few honeyed walnuts.

5. Sip and enjoy!
