There’s no doubt that the Inner Harbor of Baltimore is the most picturesque and entertaining area in the city. The Inner Harbor has been one of the major US seaports since the 1700’s. Since then it has emerged into the city’s cultural center, attracting both visitors and residents all year long. Baltimore’s Inner Harbor offers an array of attractions, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife all within walking distance.
Because there is so much to do in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, we decided to make it easy by creating an itinerary of the three best things to do in the area. Although our first suggested spot is not considered nightlife, we had to include it because it is an experience you don’t want to miss. So take a day to soak up the Inner Harbor scene and experience the best of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor nightlife!
This world-famous aquarium is the most popular tourist attraction in Baltimore. There are over 16,000 creatures including stingrays, dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, bullfrogs, sloths, phytoplankton, puffins, jellyfish, and thousands more. Some of the highlights of this aquarium include a model of a Humpback Whale, a 35-foot waterfall, free-flying birds, roaming iguanas, and freshwater crocodiles.
The new Blacktip Reef exhibit is something you don’t want to miss. This replica of the Indo-Pacific reefs is full of colorful, active life. There’s even a new floor to ceiling pop-out viewing window to see the sea creatures face-to-face. Check out the live video feed on the right. If you’re in Baltimore, the National Aquarium is definitely worth visiting!
If you like seafood, particularly oysters and crab, Phillips Seafood is the place to go. This famous Baltimore restaurant has been serving it’s award-winning crab cakes and shellfish in the Inner Harbor for more than 30 years. In the summer and early fall make sure to sit on the crab deck and enjoy a steam mussel, crab, or oyster bucket with a pitcher of sangria while watching the boats go by. This is a great spot to start your Inner Harbor nightlife experience.
